The mean (average grade) is the arithmetic of all grades obtained in examinations (unsatisfactory grades included).

At the beginning off each course, the coordinator presents the internal rules of the Department - attendance policy, mid-term examinations than student has to pass in order to qualify for the final exam.

During each course, student is required to pass quizzes and mid-term exams the number of which depends on the department’s policy. If the students failed the first term quizzes or mid term exams, they may retake them since the passing grade is a prerequisite to take the final exam. In case of failing the second final, the student has the last chance to take the second exam before the department appointed board of commissioners. Such exam shall take place within 14 days after the Dean’s has approved the student’s request submitted within 7 days from the date of the second final exam.

Failing either a quiz, a mid-term or final examination means that a student has to repeat the whole course. During the course, which is taken for the second time, a student is recommended to attend additional duties to deepen his/her knowledge in a failed course.

The Dean appoints the board of commissioners, which usually consist of: the Dean or Deputy Dean of the Faculty, the head of the department, a lecturers or an instructor of a given subject or a person authorized by him, the chairman of the Pedagogical Council and an academic teacher chosen by the student. A representative of the Student Self-Government can be present at the re-sit to the board examination. The grade given by the examination board is final.

A student who fails only one subject can be admitted to the higher year on condition to take the failed course. In case of failing a repeated course, student cannot progress to the next year – he/she has to repeat once again the failed course.  If a student fails more that one course, he/she has to repeat the year of studies. In this case student repeat all failed courses – must attend all seminars and classes and sit for all credits, colloquiums and final exams.
