It is with great satisfaction that we announce that Dr Sylwia Michorowska from the Department of Bioanalysis and Drug Analysis, led by Prof. Piotr Wroczyński from our faculty, has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Foundation grant in the Senior Award category.

Thanks to the grant, our researcher will spend 10 months collaborating with Prof Judith Simcox, the Director of the Advanced Lipidomics and Metabolomics Facility housed in the Mass Spectrometry Core Facility of the Biotechnology Center of the Biochemistry Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA.

The aim of Dr Michorowska's project is to identify lipid markers of metabolic disease in the African-American female population, where typical markers such as triglycerides, LDL, HDL are not good predictive markers of diabetes and cardiovascular disease due to ethnic differences.
